QE Facilities (QEF) is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust (GHNT), based in the North East of England.

We provide a range of non- clinical services to GHNT and other NHS organisations. Our services include: estates, facilities services, procurement, medical engineering and devices, endoscopy decontamination and sterile services, transport, out-patient pharmacy, and prevention & management of violence & aggression training (PMVA).  In addition we provide consultancy services, advising clients on all aspects of establishing a subsidiary company within an NHS body to the provision of VAT compliance advice.

Job Title:         Medical Devices Training Officer

Salary:                   £29,910 per annum (depending upon experience)

QE Facilities are seeking to recruit a Medical Devices Training Officer within our Medical Devices Training department. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the optimal and safe application and use of medical devices across the Trust, working closely with the organisation’s diverse range of clinical services and clinical professionals. As this is a new service, the post holder will play a vital role in establishing and developing the service.

The successful candidate will play an essential role in the development, implementation and continued improvement of comprehensive systems of competency management that consistently ensure safe and optimal use of medical devices throughout the Trust. Additionally, they will be a source of authoritative advice for clinical, technical and managerial staff on medical device usage, upkeep and safety issues. They may also support strategic planning, product evaluation, safety action and incident investigation activities relating to medical devices.

Principal duties will include needs assessment, planning and delivery of competency-based training, including the management of other approved training providers.

You must have at least 2 years’ experience working with medical devices and be both self-motivated and enthusiastic. A rigorous approach and attention to detail with a high degree of safety awareness is essential.

A full UK car driving license is desirable as the post will involve driving to our external sites and training venues within the surrounding areas.

You will also need to be confident in using IT applications such as Word, Excel & Outlook.

QE Facilities are seeking to recruit a Medical Devices Senior Training Lead within our Medical Devices Training department. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the optimal and safe application and use of medical devices across the Trust, working closely with the organisation’s diverse range of clinical services and clinical professionals. As this is a new service, the post holder will play a vital role in establishing and developing the service.

This role would suit a professionally registered nurse, operating department practitioner, healthcare scientist or other allied healthcare professional with a strong experiential background in the use of medical devices in healthcare delivery and a good understanding of medical device issues from the perspectives of clinical colleagues, patients and carers. The post holder should have demonstrable passion for quality and safety in healthcare provision.

You must be a Registered Nurse (Nursing & Midwifery Council), Registered Operating Department Practitioner (College of Operating Department Practitioners) or hold equivalent relevant healthcare professional registration. You must also be qualified to degree level or equivalent in a relevant subject and have a significant level of post registration experience in an acute healthcare setting.
