QE Facilities (QEF) is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust (GHNT), based in the North East of England.

We provide a range of non- clinical services to GHNT and other NHS organisations. Our services include: estates, facilities services, procurement, medical engineering and devices, endoscopy decontamination and sterile services, transport, out-patient pharmacy, and prevention & management of violence & aggression training (PMVA).  In addition we provide consultancy services, advising clients on all aspects of establishing a subsidiary company within an NHS body to the provision of VAT compliance advice.

Estates Department: Multi skilled Craftsperson (Mechanical) Day Shift

Hours: 37.5 per week

Location: Field based

Remuneration:   Grade C  -  £27,703 per annum basic pay + on call + expenses + lease car scheme

 

An opportunity has arisen for a Mechanical Craftsperson to join the estates / maintenance team at QE Facilities Limited.

 

QE Facilities is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust.

 

This post is field based mainly within the Newcastle/Gateshead area, however you may be required to carry out work at any other site maintained by QE Facilities.

 

The successful candidates will be required to carry out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and breakdown maintenance to all aspects of electrical/mechanical plant, distribution and equipment including work of a technical and/or non-routine nature.

 

Testing, installation and fault finding on a wide range of mechanical engineering plant and equipment, including but not restricted to: steam raising plant, specialised ventilation plant, low pressure hot water systems, domestic hot water systems.

 

In addition to undertaking maintenance and emergency repairs, the post holder will be required to carry out installation and improvement work across all properties maintained by QE Facilities and undertake essential repair work and general maintenance activities at the request of the engineering supervisor. 

 

All work must be carried out in compliance within QE Facilities safety standards and national legislation. The post holder must be fully aware of their Health & Safety responsibilities relating to their work and possess sufficient technical knowledge to avoid any danger to themselves, colleagues, hospital staff, patients and members of the public.

 

Must be able to work and act on his/her own initiative with minimum supervision and possess the ability to work and communicate effectively in a pleasant manner with all other members of staff across the QE Facilities remit.

 

The post holder will be required to partake in an on call rota to maintain 24/7 cover for the contracted sites. It is envisaged this will be on a 1:4 rota (subject to change)

Facilities Support Officer (Porter)

We are looking to appoint a Facilities Support Officer on a full time basis of 37.5 hours per week. It will typically work 7.5 hours on any day, evening and weekends

 

The main purpose of the role is to assist QEF management in the provision of a comprehensive customer led, professional, Portering and Security service using allocated equipment / resources available to the department. Facilities Services cover areas such as patient movement, meals deliveries, laundry duties, postal deliver / collection, refuse collection and pharmacy deliveries. This list is a guide to general duties only and is not an exhaustive list. The post holder may be expected to work at any of QEF premises and will need to maintain a proactive and flexible approach towards the changing needs of the service.

 

You must also be able to deal with patients and visitors to the Hospital in a courteous manner and be able to demonstrate the ability, and have the experience, of working in a pressurised environment.

 

Full training will be given.

 

This position will be expected to be fully flexible to the needs of the service.

QE Facilities’ Decontamination Services based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Gateshead is seeking confident, self-motivated individuals to work/ train as Decontamination Technicians; successful applicants must poses excellent interpersonal and communication skills to join our busy team in providing a full range of decontamination services on a wide range of medical devices.

The role will incorporate rotational working across Sterile Services, Endoscopy Decontamination, Sterile Services Department logistics & Stores and the Medical Equipment Library.  

You must be able to demonstrate a flexible and adaptable approach to working to cover holidays and sickness at short notice. The position is shift based including day, evening, night, weekend, and bank holiday rotas.

The role is physically demanding and involves input into all stages of the decontamination cycle, ensuring comprehensive records of all tasks are maintained for tracking & traceability purposes; this will necessitate the operation of specific computer and database applications; therefore IT literacy is required including knowledge of  IT applications such as Word, Excel & Outlook.

Within this role you will come into contact with contaminated devices i.e. blood body tissue etc.
