QE Facilities (QEF) is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust (GHNT), based in the North East of England.
We provide a range of non- clinical services to GHNT and other NHS organisations. Our services include: estates, facilities services, procurement, medical engineering and devices, endoscopy decontamination and sterile services, transport, out-patient pharmacy, and prevention & management of violence & aggression training (PMVA). In addition we provide consultancy services, advising clients on all aspects of establishing a subsidiary company within an NHS body to the provision of VAT compliance advice.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Architectural Technician to join the estates / maintenance team at QE Facilities Limited.
The position will be based at Darlington Memorial Hospital, Darlington, County Durham. However, you may be required to carry out work at any other site maintained by QE Facilities.
The role of Architectural Technician will produce sketch designs, concept designs, working drawings, project management, costing and specifications, and coordinate site control of Capital Works projects undertaken by the Company, on the Darlington Memorial Hospital site.
The successful candidate will need to fulfil the essential criteria for this position. They must have a good working knowledge of Building Regulations, Codes of Practice and standard forms of contract, project cost estimation, tender specification and analysis, and the use of AutoCad system or equivalent. You will also be familiar with relevant legislation, Guidance Notes, Health Technical Memoranda, Health Building Notes, building related Codes of Practice, together with technical and operational documents relevant to the Estates function.
You must be able to work and act on your own initiative and possess the ability to communicate effectively and collaboratively, with all customers, users and staff. You should be self-motivated, with extensive relevant post-qualification experience of the building process, in particular the design, detailing, specification and construction of building projects. A flexible attitude is required to succeed within the Company, as is a desire to deliver excellent customer service.

Snr Estates Manager
Salary: QEF band E, circa £57,500
Hours: 37.5 hours
Base location: North East England
Reporting to the Head of Estates, you will be responsible for property management, building and engineering services, maintenance, grounds & gardens and for the strategic development of the estates service for QEF
You will be the Company’s adviser on all building, engineering issues providing specialist advice to customers. Leading the formulation of long-term strategic plans for the all sites and premises, whilst managing the operational delivery of the breakdown/maintenance service and out of hour’s service provision in an efficient and cost effective manner. In addition you will have a significant input on building and engineering design in connection with new build capital projects and refurbishments of existing premises in accordance with agreed timescales and budgets.
The role will be accountable for the maintenance of comprehensive records and co-ordinate/manage collection of data for compliance returns including: Estates Returns Information Collection (ERIC) return and Carbon reduction commitment (CRC), along with the management and delivery of agreed service level agreement and KPIs
You will form a crucial part of the estates leadership team, driving innovation and change to deliver efficiency and value to our customers. The ideal candidate will be an experienced operational, technical minded leader, with an extensive track record in the delivery of a high quality, customer focused estates service whilst driving efficiency, improvement and innovation. You will demonstrate well developed communication skills, the ability to play a key part in leadership of the department, giving confidence to our key stakeholders and customers whilst ensuring every member of your team understand the part they play in the delivery of the best possible service. Experience of healthcare estates management is essential to appreciate the resilience planning and complexity of services required of estates to ensure hospitals can continue to safely operate day to day.
