Lord Carter Innovation Award – QE Facilities Highly Commended

QE Facilities Limited on behalf of the Gateshead NHS Foundation Trust group are delighted to announce that the ongoing work in delivering substantial savings efficiencies and carbon reductions has been recognised by receiving the Lord Carter Innovation Award - Highly Commended.

The award was presented to Mr Peter Harding Managing Director of QE Facilities by Lord Carter himself [Pictured] at the Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management ceremony held at the House of lords on Thursday 14th November 2019.

Among the achievements highlighted in QEF’s Award submission were:

  • A reduction in time / production hours lost due to sickness, and in associated agency and overtime costs

  • A review of all maintenance activities ‘to ensure maximum efficiency in the use of time- served trade staff’

  • The introduction of ‘multi-skilled generic workers

  • The introduction of space utilisation software

  • Shared resources and partnership working between ourselves and our colleagues in Durham & Darlington

  • Invested and installed two bio-diesel CHP boilers

  • QEF has used SALIX match funding to carry out 59 separate scheme

  • Continued investigation of the use of electric vehicles and ‘eco vehicles’ within its expanding fleet

  • Implemented a Sustainable Development Management Plan (SDMP)
